You Received your First Degree from UCI

Students who have already received a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and are interested in pursuing a second bachelor’s degree in another area of study may be considered for admission as 2nd Baccalaureate candidates.  It is expected that applicants are prepared to enter courses at the junior level.

2nd B.A. students are subject to the following regulations in Humanities:
  • Degree requirements must be completed in six quarters of attendance, excluding summers.
  • You may only enroll in courses that apply toward the major to which you were admitted.
Applicants must meet required prerequisites in order to apply for a second B.A. in that field.  Note that completion of the minimum required prerequisites does NOT guarantee admission.  Lower-division major courses may be completed at the community college prior to enrolling at UCI. Applicants must also complete a supplemental application.

Application for Readmission as a Second B.A.: You must apply for readmission as a second B.A. student by the following deadlines: August 1 for fall quarter, November 1 for winter quarter and February 1 for spring quarter.  Contact an Academic Counselor in the School of Humanities to initiate the readmission process after you have successfully met the readmission eligibility criteria.
