| LATIN 103 | SENECA'S MORAL EPISTLES | SNYDER, RICHARD | This course seeks to improve a student’s ability to read Latin prose through a close study of Seneca’s letters. The course will include reviews of morphological forms and grammar, but its main focus will be on reading Latin prose as accurately and efficiently as possible. To provide a context for these works, we will discuss social and historical issues relevant to Seneca’s time, as well as the Stoic precepts that inform his ideas and the rhetorical and stylistic devices he uses to convey them. |
