More specifically, students will read a portion from book 3 of the Bellum Civile, which recounts Caesar’s final confrontation with Pompey and his involvement with the Ptolemies, and the opening lines of the Bellum Alexandrinum, which gives further details about Caesar’s exploits in Egypt. Throughout the course of the quarter, students can expect regular translation assignments, (bi)weekly quizzes, a midterm, and a final. Finally, students who have completed more than 2 years of Latin language study will be asked to complete a separate translation project. |
