LATIN 1BFUNDAMENTALSPALMER/YATESThis is the second quarter of first-year Latin. We will continue to cover Wheelock's Latin textbook. Instruction and practice in grammar and vocabulary will alternate with the reading of Latin passages. Daily homework, weekly quiz, midterm exam, and a final examination. Prerequisite: Latin 1A, equivalent, or permission of instructor. This course may be used to satisfy the breadth requirement in language (VI) as well as the School of Humanities foreign language requirement.
LATIN 103LIVYPALMER, M.In this class we will read selections from Livy's history of Rome. We will emphasize accurate translation, vocabulary building, and grammatical understanding, while also discussing the historical and cultural context of Livy's work. We will also systematically review the more difficult grammatical constructions encountered in first-year Latin. Quizzes, midterm, and a final examination. Prerequisite: one year of college-level Latin or equivalent.
