LATIN 103CICEROSTAFFThe year 63 BCE was the year during which Catiline and his followers conspired against the Roman state and even plotted to kill the consul Cicero. Cicero, however, discovered the plans before they could be carried out. In this class, we will read Cicero's account of these events in his First Catilinarian Oration. If time permits, we will read parts of second oration as well. Focus will be on accurate translation, understanding of syntax, and vocabulary building. Midterm, final examination and quizzes.
