LATIN 1CFUNDAMENTALSSTAFFThis is the third quarter of Latin 1A-B-C. First, we will finish the remaining chapters of Shelmerdine's introduction to Latin. Once completed, the course will focus on reading unadapted passages from the Oxford Latin Reader. Discussion and lecture will pertain more to complex aspects of grammar, syntax and style. There will be daily homework, a weekly quiz, a midterm and final examination. Prerequisite: Latin 1B.

LATIN 104AENEID 8POGORZELSKI, R.Latin 104—Latin Poetry: Aeneid 8 In this course we will read book 8 of Virgil’s Aeneid, paying close attention to grammar, vocabulary, and style, and considering its historical and cultural context as well as critical and theoretical issues. Prerequisite: Latin 100B or consent of the department. This course may be repeated for credit as topics vary.
