LATIN 1CFUNDAMENTALSWEINER, J.This is the third quarter of Latin 1A-B-C. First, we will finish the remaining chapters of Shelmerdine's introduction to Latin. Once completed, the course will focus on reading unadapted passages from the Oxford Latin Reader. Discussion and lecture will pertain more to complex aspects of grammar, syntax and style. There will be daily homework, a weekly quiz, a midterm and final examination. Prerequisite: Latin 1B.

LATIN 103LATIN PROSE:TACITUSZISSOS, P.In this course we will read Tacitus’ Histories Book 2, paying close attention to grammar, vocabulary and prose style, and occasionally considering the historical and political background to this important text, which describes the tumultuous civil wars following the death of Nero. Prerequisite: Latin 100A or consent of the department. This course may be repeated for credit as topics vary.
