LATIN 1CFUNDAMENTALSBRUSUELAS, J.This is the third quarter of Latin 1A-B-C. First, we will finish the remaining chapters of Shelmerdine's Introduction to Latin. Once completed, the course will focus on reading unadapted passages from the Oxford Latin Reader. Discussion and lecture will pertain more to complex aspects of grammar, syntax and style. There will be daily homework, a weekly quiz, a midterm and final examination. Prerequisite: Latin 1B.
LATIN 104LATIN POETRY: LATIN VERSE SATIREGOLDMAN, M.Primary readings from Lucillius, Horace, Persius and Juvenal. Topics will include development of the genre, its focus on physicality and food, its politics, philosophy and treatment of Rome. Prerequisite: Latin 100B or equivalent or consent of Department.
LATIN 110LATIN PROSE: COMPOSITIONARMSTRONG, C.The Latin Composition course is designed to help students improve their command of Latin by analyzing and writing Latin prose. Particular emphasis will be placed on mastery of Latin syntax and appreciation of idiom. Prerequisite: Latin 100A or equivalent or consent of Department.
