GREEK 1BFUNDAMENTALSEARNEST, J.This course is a continuation of first-year Greek and we will complete another twenty or so chapters of our beginning textbook, Introduction to Attic Greek by Donald Mastronarde. Strict attention will be paid to the mastery of forms and syntax and we will also increase our reading skills. Weekly quizzes, midterm and final examinations. Prerequisite: Greek 1A, equivalent, or permission of instructor. This course may be used to satisfy the breadth requirement in language (VI) as well as the School of Humanities' foreign language requirement.
GREEK 104GREEK POETRYGIANNOPOULOU, Z.May be repeated as topics vary. Greek 104: Seminar in Greek Poetry In this course we shall read Euripides' Medea, most of it in the original language and the rest in translation. Emphasis will be placed on accurate translation and on grammatical and syntactical peculiarities. We shall also concern ourselves with interpretative issues as the quarter progresses and once familiarity with the text has been gained. Prerequisite: 100B or equivalent, or consent of the Department.
