GREEK 1AFUNDAMENTALSCLAXTON, C.Have you ever wanted to read Homer or Sophocles or Plato in the original Greek? Are you curious about why a single Greek text can produce so many different translations? If so, this course will help you to begin to understand the complexities of ancient Greek. In this course, we will cover the rudiments of Greek grammar, syntax and vocabulary and will translate simple passages and sentences. Greek 1A is the first quarter of a yearlong course dedicated to the study of beginning Greek. Weekly quizzes, midterm and a final examination. No prerequisites. Non-majors are most welcome.
GREEK 25GREEK GRAMMAR/LITYATES, V.Review of Greek grammar and enhancement of translation skills through reading selections from major classical authors. Weekly quizzes, midterm, and final exam. Non-majors welcome. Prerequisite: one year of college Ancient Greek or equivalent (with consent of department).
