GREEK 100XENOPHON AND HOMERHERNANDEZ, A.Greek 100 is an upper division language course designed for students who have completed the first year of Greek language study. In this course, students will focus on translating both prose and poetry. During the first half of the quarter, students will read selections from book 2 of Xenophon’s Hellenica, which details the aftermath of the Peloponnesian War. In the second half, students will read portions of book 9 from Homer’s Odyssey, in which Odysseus recounts his frightening encounter with the cyclops, Polyphemus.

Throughout the course of the quarter, students can expect regular translation assignments, (bi)weekly quizzes, a midterm, and a final. Lastly, students who have completed more than 2 years of Greek language study will be asked to complete a separate translation project.
