In this course, students will focus on selections from Sophocles’ tragedy, Ajax. The first weeks of the quarter will be spent translating and discussing the various characters’ reactions to Ajax’s madness, and the time remaining will be devoted to translation and analysis of the hero’s suicide and the fallout of his death. |
