Jobs or Jails: Policy Priorities in Reagan's America
This talk details both the devastating economic crisis of the late 1970s and early 1980s, the proposals for public sector job creation of the era, alongside the development of federal crime policy during the Reagan Era.
Speaker: David Stein is a UC President's Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of African American Studies at UCLA and the author of the forthcoming book, Fearing Inflation, Inflating Fears: The Civil Rights Struggle for Full Employment and the Rise of the Carceral State, 1929-1986.
