KOREAN 1BFUNDAMENTALSSTAFFThe objective of Korean 1A-B-C is to guide students in developing basic Korean language skills. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of written and spoken Korean language. Four textbooks (Yonsei Korean 1-1 & 1-2, Yonsei Korean Workbook 1-1 & 1-2: Yonsei University Press) will be used.  The main textbooks aim to develop students’ basic communicative skills in practical, everyday situations whereas the practice books intend to be used in conjunction with the main textbooks to complement and to strengthen the acquired vocabulary and grammar in all four areas: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Upon completion of this course, students are expected to acquire basic comprehension ability, expanded vocabulary, basic grammatical patterns, and sentence structures. 2 Tests and Final.  Prerequisite: Korean 1A or equivalent.
KOREAN 2BINTERMEDIATESTAFFIn Korean 2A-B-C series, students are assumed to have previous knowledge of Korean taught in Korean 1A-B-C series. Students in this course will learn further intermediate level skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Korean. Six textbooks (New Yonsei Korean Vocabulary and Grammar 2-1 & 2-2, New Yonsei Korean Speaking and Writing 2-1 & 2-2, and New Yonsei Korean Listening and Reading 2-1 & 2-2: Yonsei University Language Research and Education Center, Korean Language Institute) will be used throughout the quarter. Upon completion of this course, students are expected to acquire further comprehension ability, expanded vocabulary, more complicated grammatical patterns, and sentence structures. 3 tests and a final essay. Prerequisite: Korean 2A or equivalent.
KOREAN 10LEARN ASSIST PRGMSTAFFLearning Assistant Program in which students at an advanced level of Korean (KOREAN 103A or above) provide assistance to students at fundamentals (KOREAN 1A-B-C).
KOREAN 103BADVANCED KOREANSTAFFIn Korean 103A-103B-103C series, students learn more advanced levels of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Korean. Students in these courses are assumed to have previous knowledge of Korean 2 taught in Korean 2A through 2C. The focus will be on speaking with advanced grammatical patterns and expressions toward more complicated sentence structures. Students will have opportunities to discuss some topics related to the Korean culture and society. In doing so, they will learn more about Korean culture, society, and aspects of life while learning the language. Midterm and Final. Prerequisite: Korean 103A or equivalent.
