| KOREAN 1A | FUNDAMENTALS | STAFF | The objective of Korean 1A-B-C is to guide students in developing basic Korean language skills. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of written and spoken Korean language. Three textbooks (New Yonsei Korean Vocabulary and Grammar 1-1, New Yonsei Korean Speaking and Writing 1-1, & New Yonsei Korean Listening and Reading 1-1: Yonsei University Language Research and Education Center, Korean Language Institute) will be used throughout the quarter. Upon completion of this course, students are expected to acquire basic comprehension ability, expanded vocabulary, basic grammatical patterns, and sentence structures. 3 tests and a written final. |
| KOREAN 2A | INTERMEDIATE | STAFF | In Korean 2A-B-C series, students are assumed to have previous knowledge of Korean taught in Korean 1A-B-C series. Students in this course will learn further intermediate level skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Korean. Three textbooks (New Yonsei Korean Vocabulary and Grammar 2-1, New Yonsei Korean Speaking and Writing 2-1, & New Yonsei Korean Listening and Reading 2-1: Yonsei University Language Research and Education Center, Korean Language Institute) will be used throughout the quarter. Upon completion of this course, students are expected to acquire further comprehension ability, expanded vocabulary, more complicated grammatical patterns, and sentence structures. 3 tests and a final essay. Prerequisite: Korean 1C or equivalent. |
| KOREAN 3A | ADVANCED | STAFF | In Korean 3A-B-C series, students learn more advanced levels of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Korean. Students in these courses are assumed to have previous knowledge of Korean 2 taught in Korean 2A through 2C. Three textbooks (New Yonsei Korean Vocabulary and Grammar 3-1, New Yonsei Korean Speaking and Writing 3-1, & New Yonsei Korean Listening and Reading 3-1: Yonsei University Language Research and Education Center, Korean Language Institute) will be used throughout the quarter. The focus will be on advanced grammatical patterns and points toward more complicated sentence structures. Students will learn more about Korean culture, history, and society while learning the language and different forms of literature. Midterm test and final. Prerequisite: Korean 2C or equivalent. |
