KOREAN 1AFUNDAMENTALSHYUN, H;, LI, TThe objective of Korean 1A-B-C is to guide students in developing basic Korean language skills. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of written and spoken Korean language. Two textbooks (Korean 1 & practice book: Language Education Institute, Seoul National University) will be used throughout the year. The main textbook aims to develop students’ basic communicative skills in practical, everyday situations whereas the practice book intends to be used in conjunction with the main textbook to complement and to strengthen the acquired vocabulary and grammar in all four areas: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Upon completion of this course, students are expected to acquire basic comprehension ability, expanded vocabulary, basic grammatical patterns and sentence structures. 3 Tests and Final (listening and written).
KOREAN 2AINTERMEDIATECHOE, HThis course is opened for those who started learning Korean without Korean language background. In Korean 2A-B-C series, students are assumed to have previous knowledge of Korean taught in Korean 1A-B-C series. Students in this course will learn further intermediate level skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Korean. Two textbooks will be used throughout the year (Korean 2 & practice book: Language Education Institute, Seoul National University). Some basic Chinese characters are also introduced. Upon completion of this course, students are expected to acquire further comprehension ability, expanded vocabulary, more complicated grammatical patterns and sentence structures. The students have good command of Korean in speaking, reading and writing. 2 Tests and Final (listening and written). Prerequisite: Korean 1C or equivalent.
KOREAN 2KAINTERM BACKGROUNDCHOE, HThis course is opened for those who started learning Korean with Korean language background. KOREAN 3AADVANCEDHYUN, HThis course introduces various aspects of Korean culture and society through contemporary Korean drama, ‘???? 1988 (Reply 1988).  By watching the Korean drama, students are expected not only to develop a comprehensive understanding of Korean way of life reflected in the drama but alos to improve Korean proficiency to Advanced level. Because of the nature of the language, students will constantly be reviewing structures learned in previous Korean classes. Students are guided in the development of the four language learning skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.  Prerequisite: Korean 2C/2KC or equivalent.
KOREAN 101AFOURTH YEARLEE, Y.This innovative course is intended for students who have studied Korean at college level for at least three years or possess equivalent competency. Students will read and watch a variety of Korean texts-written and visual-in order to improve their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skill. Students will also write, develop, and analyze Korean politics and culture that will eventually be produced into short videos. A significant amount of course time will be devoted into writing, shooting, and editing videos. This course will offer students practical knowledge of both Korean and multimedia skills.

Prerequisite: KOREAN 3C.
