KOREAN 1BFUNDAMENTALSPARK/HYUN/OHThe objective of Korean 1A-B-C is to guide students in developing Facility in basic Korean. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of written and spoken Korean language. A textbook and three course packets will be used throughout the year. The Korean conversational language focuses on the colloquial form of Korean whereas the course packets focuses on written Form. Upon completion of this course students are expected to acquire basic comprehension ability, expanded vocabulary, grammatical patterns and sentence structures, so that they have fundamental command of Korean in speaking, reading and writing, Students will be given four tests and an oral and written final tests. Prerequisite: Korean 1A or equivalent.
KOREAN 2BINTERMEDIATEPARK/CHOE/HYUNIn Korean 2A-B-C series, students are assumed to have previous knowledge of Korean that which was taught in Korean 1A-B-C series. Students in this course will learn further the intermediate level skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Korean. Students will learn the intermediate level skill of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Korean. Upon completion of this course, the students will be able to communicate on the topic, understand and use a variety of sentence structure, and write an well-organized expository composition in Korean. A substantial number of basic Chinese characters will be introduced. Students will be given three tests and an oral and written final test. A class project consists of typed research paper and oral presentation is due at the end of each quarter Prerequisite: Korean 2A
KOREAN 3BADVANCEDCHOE, H.The objective of Korean 3A-B-C is continues to introduce students to the Korean language with more advanced structures and vocabulary which are presented within the context of the Korean society. In addition, some Chinese characters will be introduced to enhance ability to understand written materials. Because of the nature of the language, students will constantly be reviewing structures learned in previous Korean classes. Students are guided in the development of the four language learning skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students will continue to develop an appreciation and understanding of the Korean culture and its varied traditions and histories, particularly through classroom discussion and extra reading materials. Students will be given three tests and a written final test. A class project consists of typed research paper and oral presentation is due at the end of each quarter Prerequisite: Korean 3A or equivalent
KOREAN 101BFOURTH YEARSTAFFContinued emphasis on comprehension, grammar, and proficiency in reading, composition, and conversation through intensive study and analysis of a variety of modern texts. Prerequisite: Korean 3C
