European Studies Undergraduate Awards
The Program in European Studies offers the following awards each year:
The European Studies Essay Award
Two (2) awards are given to outstanding undergraduates in the field of European Studies, as judged by a written essay. One award will be given to a European Studies major, and the second award will be given to a major in another department within the School of Humanities at UC Irvine.
There is no specific length. You may submit a paper that was written for a previously taken European Studies course, or for any another course in which the history, art, literature, or philosophy (or contemporary politics) of Europe in general or any particular European country was the topic.The European Studies Travel Award
You must be a European Studies major to be elibigle for consideration and you must return to UCI for at least one quarter after your travel-study program. Awards are only good towards travel to or in a European country.

- Lisa Haygood is a senior who is majoring in European Studies and History with a minor in Political Science.
- Jessica Bond is a senior majoring in English and minoring in Philosophy.
2013-14 -Awardee Announcement
- Olivia Schuetz is a graduating senior who will receive her degree in European Studies with a minor in Management.
- Katie Kea is an English major who graduated in Fall 2013.
2012-13 -Awardee Announcement
- Kasey Black is a graduating senior who will receive her degrees in European Studies and Anthropology
- Kenneth Lai is a junior majoring in Classics and English

2013-14 - Awardee Announcement
- Olivia Schuetz is a senior majoring in European Studies with a minor in Management. She is planning on traveling to Berlin and study at the Free University.
- Katrina Flores is a junior majoring in International Studies. She is planning on traveling to Madrid to be studying in the Hispanic Studies program at the Carlos III University of Madrid.
