The Italian Program at the University of California, Irvine offers a minor in Italian Studies with courses both in Italian language and in English on a variety of literary and cultural subjects. Students may also choose to major or minor in European Studies with a specialization in Italian. We are dedicated to leading students to a broad, interdisciplinary appreciation of the culture, society and history of one of Europe’s most ancient civilizations. In each we offer specialist teaching in Italian language, from introductory to intermediate level. Students are also introduced to Italian literature with a set of offerings that extend across times and subjects through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance to today’s multicultural Italy.
