Human Rights/Historical Wrongs: Xinjiang, Hong Kong, and US-China Relations

Indoctrination camps in Xinjiang.  Visa denials and shuttered shows in Hong Kong.  Students disappearing from Beijing campuses.  Trade disputes.  Accusations of unfairness flying in both directions across the Pacific. What are the implications of these things for American universities?  For informed citizens?  These are among the questions to be addressed in this "Pop-Up Panel" organized by the Forum for the Academy and the Public.

Mary Kay Magistad (reported from China for PRI's "The World," teaches audio journalism at Berkeley);
Alex Wang (specialist in Chinese legal and environmental issues, teaches Law at UCLA);
Graham Webster (Fellow and Coordinating Editor of the DigiChina project at New America);
Jeffrey Wasserstrom (teaches Chinese history at UCI, writes about protest and censorship).
