“Assessing Scholarship in the Digital Age” will address the challenges and processes of earning recognition for digital humanities scholarship within institutional environments that continue to be shaped by more traditional approaches and methods. Panelists will discuss the recent release of guidelines concerning digital scholarship such as the Statement on Digital Scholarship from the Society of Cinema and Media Studies and the Guidelines for the Professional Evaluation of Digital Scholarship from the American Historical Association. They will also discuss issues such as the assessment of digital scholarship for purposes of promotion and tenure, and the challenges of pursuing Digital Humanities-based projects and dissertations for Ph.D. students.
