First Annual Kirk Davis, Jr. Public Shakespeare Lecture

Co-sponsored by the UCI Shakepseare Center and Illuminations, the Chancellor's Arts and Culture Initiative.

Preceded by a book party for Robert Cohen, author of Shakespeare as Actor and the contributors to the Arden Critical Guide to Romeo and Juliet.

This lecture and demonstration features Michael Anderegg, professor emeritus of English, University of Nebraska, speaking about his new book, Lincoln and Shakespeare, accompanied by dramatic readings from Lincoln and Shakespeare, performed by Richard Brestoff, professor of drama, UCI.

This new annual series aims to explore the art and legacy of Shakespeare’s plays in a broad humanistic and experimental format that engages undergraduates, staff and community as well as scholars and theater practitioners in lively discussions around drama, literature and life.
