UCI homecoming features Professor Jonathan Alexander's Hurricane Katrina exhibition

 Office of the Dean     Jan 30 2016 | 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM UCI's Aldrich Park

Themed “Spark the Zot in You,” UCI's homecoming event gives alumni and community members the chance to connect with the campus through a day of fun, discovery, innovation, athletics and school pride. It typically draws more than 5,000 alumni, students, faculty, staff and supporters and is open to the public. The School of Humanities will be showcasing Professor Jonathan Alexander's Hurricane Katrina exhibition, which debuted at UCI last year. "Blood in the Water: A Katrina Remembrance" features photographs taken shortly after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast, in particular New Orleans, in 2005. The photos are by Jon Hughes, photojournalist and professor of English & journalism at the University of Cincinnati, and are curated – with accompanying commentary – by New Orleans native Jonathan Alexander, professor of English at UCI.

In addition to Professor Alexander's exhibition, our homecoming event will include live music and dance performances, alumni-owned food trucks and an adults-only beer garden sponsored by Hotel Irvine. Attendees can get their zot on at the Alumni Antrepreneur Fair, receive advice from UCI’s Career Center, and release some energy at a family fun zone and clinics presented by UCI Athletics.
