"I Wonder What You Will Remember of September"

 Latin American Studies     Nov 12 2015 | 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM Humanities Gateway 1070

Through the use of written and visual poetry combined with documentary techniques, Cecilia Cornejo creates works of non-fiction that bring a personal dimension to the documentary tradition. Her work has been exhibited widely throughout Europe and the Americas and was part of MOMA’s Documentary Fortnight. This film is a quest for links of understanding across generations as a family grapples with the memory of surviving the military coup in Chile in 1973, and is a personal response to the events of September 11, 2001. Her latest film, "Song of the Apprentice," was screened at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival. Aside from her artistic practice, Ms. Cornejo is the co-founder of the Nineteenth Step, a collective of artists, teachers, and curators who use cinema to achieve a deeper understanding of Latin American Culture.
