You... on Google Search: Managing scholarly profiles

You... On Google Search

Whether you are presenting at a conference, applying for an internship or on the job market, someone is going look you up online. In this hands-on workshop, we will look at various digital profiles, including Vitae, academia.edu, and LinkedIn. We will also consider scholars on social media and scholarly websites. During lunch, Jessica Millward (history) and Roland Betancourt (art history) will talk about scholars and digital identity/digital platforms. After lunch, the workshop will provide an opportunity to work on your profiles, draft a social media plan or set up a personal website with input from your peers. Whether you are focused on an academic career or exploring multiple career options, whether you are setting up your first online profile or updating your digital identity, all participants will have made progress on an online profile that best represents you as a scholar.

Workshop facilitator:  Amanda Jeanne Swain, PhD, Associate Director, Humanities Commons
