Professor Erika Rappaport of UCSB will talk on "Making tea in India: the imperialism of consumer culture."

Professor Rappaport is the author of Shopping for Pleasure: Women in the Making of London's West End (Princeton: 2000), co-editor of Consuming Behavior: Identity, Politics, and Pleasure in Twentieth Century Britain (Bloomsbury, 2015), and author of the forthcoming A Global Thirst: Selling Tea in the Age of Empire  (Princeton).
