Julio Torres earned his PhD in Spanish Linguistics at Georgetown University. His research interests include Heritage and Second Language Acquisition, Bilingualism, Cognition and Task-based Language Learning. He is also interested in issues pertaining to instruction and curriculum development. Julio is a permanent certified teacher in the state of Pennsylvania where he taught high school Spanish, worked as a collaborating teacher in training student teachers and served as curriculum leader as department chair. He also served as assistant director for Georgetown University's Intensive Basic and Intermediate Spanish Language program.
