Snow White is a parodic version of the classical homonymous fairy tale by the
Brothers Grimm. Written and directed by young filmmaker, Pablo Berger, it is set in
a surreal version of the city of Seville in the 1920's. Combining oneiric and
fantastic as well as historical elements, Snow White is a technically bold black-and-
white silent film that questions conventional views of family and friendship. Berger
calls it an "homage to classical silent cinema." The film has received international
acclaim and it won the Special Jury Prize and an ex-aequo Best Actress "Silver
Shell" Award for Macarena García at the 2012 San Sebastián Film Festival. It also
won ten Goya Awards, including the Goya Award for Best Film at this year's Goya
Awards. The excellent cast includes Maribel Verdú and Angela Molina as well as
Daniel Giménez Cacho and Josep Maria Pou. Snow White will be presented in the
O.V. with English subtitles.
