Rafael Rojas (Santa Clara, Cuba, 1965) is a researcher with the Centro de
Investigación y Docencia Econó-micas (CIDE), in Mexico, and a Visiting Professor
at Princeton University. He has written more than fifteen books on the intellectual
history and the politics of Latin America, Mexico and Cuba. He received the Matías
Romero award for his book Cuba mexicana: His-toria de una anexión imposible
(2001), the Anagrama essay prize for Tumbas sin sosiego: Revolu-ción, disidencia
y exilio del inte-lectual cubano (2006), and the first Isabel de Polanco Essay Award
for Las repúblicas de aire: Utopía y desencanto en la revolución
hispanoamericana (2009). He has been also Visiting Professor at the universities
of Texas-Austin, Middlebury College, and Columbia.
