THE CRUMBLES is a slice-of-life tragicomedy that follows the humorous hardships of an awkward and awesome indie band struggling to make it out of their own proverbial garage.

Set in the funky and eclectic Los Angeles neighborhood of Echo Park, THE CRUMBLES features a talented, up-and-coming multi-ethnic cast, and tells a timeless story of friendship, commitment, and rock 'n' roll. Yet, it's also timely with its own fresh take on youth culture in the underground Los Angeles music scene. Winner of the Audience Award at the 2012 San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival, THE CRUMBLES is director Akira Boch's feature film debut, and proudly features an original soundtrack by Quetzal Flores, leader of the East Los Angeles band QUETZAL.

The filmmaker will be introduced by Professor Fatimah Tobing Rony of the Film and Media Studies Department at UC Irvine. There will be a post-screening discussion with the director, Akira Boch, and the producer, Gena S. Hamamoto. This event is co-sponsored by the Film and Media Studies Department, the Asian American Studies Department, the Chicano/Latino Studies Department, and the Asian Pacific Student Association.
