PHILOSOPHY ON TAP

Want to tap into life's big questions? Philosophy on Tap is a three-week course for anyone who has ever pondered the meaning of life over a pint of ale. Professor Matt Lawrence, ’99 Ph.D. in philosophy, will guide the class through an analysis of nine philosophical questions from his book, Philosophy on Tap: Pint-Sized Puzzles for the Pub Philosopher.

Dates: Wednesdays, March 14, 21, and 28

Time: 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Location: UCI University Club

Cost: $25 (to cover the cost of beer tastings and snacks)

Pre-registration required by March 9th. Please contact Kristie Williams at kwilliam@uci.ed or (949) 824-1342.

Topics will include major philosophical issues regarding the nature of truth, the self, and morality. Each question addressed will be accompanied by a tasting of a beer chosen expressly for that issue. Students will enjoy three beer tastings at each class session while they analyze and discuss some of the most perplexing questions that life has to offer.

Matt Lawrence is Professor of Philosophy at Long Beach City College and the author of Philosophy on Tap: Pint-Sized Puzzles for the Pub Philosopher and Like a Splinter in Your Mind: The Philosophy Behind the Matrix Trilogy .
