  • Jack Kent Cooke Scholars - The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s scholarship programs are designed to encourage and support outstanding students who work hard and have financial need. These scholarships provide financial assistance and academic support to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. In addition to the monetary award, students join a thriving network of nearly 2,500 Cooke Scholars.
  • Jack Kent Cooke UG Transfer Scholars - Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Resources for Community College Students provided by the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation.
  • Rhodes Scholarship - The Rhodes Scholarships are the oldest and most celebrated international fellowship awards in the world. Each year 32 young students from the United States are selected as Rhodes Scholars, through a decentralized process representing the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories. Applicants from more than 320 American colleges and universities have been selected as Rhodes Scholars. In most years, even after a century of competition, a Rhodes Scholar is selected from an institution which has not formerly supplied a successful applicant.
  • Scholarship Opportunities Program - The Scholarship Opportunities Program (SOP) organizes and disseminates information regarding 14 prestigious awards that are national and international in scope. They include opportunities for funded research and study at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. As these awards require University nomination of vetted applicants, the SOP facilitates campus-level candidate evaluation committees, selects endorsed candidates, writes University letters of nomination and convenes mock interviews to prepare finalists for national competitions.

    Staff advise students regarding application processes; provide guidance on refining Statements of Purpose, proposals to conduct research, academic and service endeavors, Personal Statements and other key application components; present workshops; connect students with past UC Irvine scholarship winners; offer editing suggestions on curriculum vitae (CVs) and maintain a library of past scholarship winners’ applications.

» Learning Outside the Classroom

  • Archaeology Field Program, Cotsen Institute of Archaeology, UCLA - The UCLA Interdepartmental Archaeology Graduate Program (AP) integrates archaeological faculty throughout the university for the training of graduate students who wish to pursue interdisciplinary research. Since the inception of the program, we have awarded over 100 M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Archaeology. The mission of the Archaeology Program is to train students in the best interdisciplinary practices and techniques of archaeological investigation. At the same time, we provide students with a strong background in archaeological interpretation and theory that will enable them to undertake independent research, explanation, and preservation of archaeological heritage worldwide.
  • Institute of International Education - Established in 1919 with the founding premise that international exchange could make the world a more interconnected place, the Institute of International Education has championed international education and pioneered new models of collaboration across institutions of higher education with a worldwide reach. Today, IIE proudly supports flagship educational and cultural exchange programs on behalf of the U.S. Departments of State and Defense, in addition to government, corporate and foundation programs. IIE is proud to assist scholars, students and artists threatened by conflict and unrest in their home countries.
  • UCDC Summer Internship Program - The UCDC Summer Internship Program (UCDC) sends 40 to 50 outstanding undergraduate students to live and intern in Washington, D.C. for 10 weeks each summer.  Students live and have the opportunity to take classes at the UC Washington Center in the heart of DC, just blocks from the White House.  UCDC is a great opportunity for students to examine the behind-the-scenes activities that shape and implement our nation’s future course.  
    Admitted students work closely with program staff to develop competitive application materials, apply to internship positions, interview successfully, and secure meaningful internships.  Students from ALL majors are encouraged to apply as Washington, D.C. offers numerous internship opportunities in various industries.
  • UCI Capital Internship Program - UC Washington, D.C. (UCDC) academic internship program participants earn UCI credit, maintain their financial aid eligibility, and gain valuable work experience while interning in Washington, D.C. Internships are available for ALL MAJORS. Students live in the University of California Washington Center building together with students from all UC campuses, which provides an intellectual and social community throughout the quarter.
  • University of California Washington Center - The University of California extends its mission of service, teaching and research to the nation's capital. The UC Washington Center (UCDC) is a multi-campus residential, instructional and research center that provides students and faculty from the University of California with opportunities to study, research, work, and live within Washington’s rich cultural, political and international heritage. The program is housed in an 11-story building in a lively neighborhood a short walk from the White House with room for more than 270 students. ?

    UCI, and other UC, students are eligible to spend a term in residence at the Center working and studying in the Washington DC metropolitan area. As interns with Congress, the White House, cabinet agencies, advocacy groups, non-profit organizations, scientific laboratories, and the news media, students gain firsthand exposure to the American political process while attaining valuable work experience. Students take courses at the Center to fulfill the academic component of each campus program. Many write and present comprehensive research papers based in part on their internship experiences.

  • Degrees that Pay You Back - Your parents might have worried when you chose Philosophy or International Relations as a major. But a year-long survey of 1.2 million people with only a bachelor's degree by PayScale Inc. shows that graduates in these subjects earned 103.5% and 97.8% more, respectively, about 10 years post-commencement. Majors that didn't show as much salary growth include Nursing and Information Technology.
