UCI’s status as a land-grant institution on the homelands of the Acjachemen and Tongva peoples means that as an educational community, we benefit from the legacies of white supremacy in both explicit and implicit ways. The Anti-White Supremacy Reading Group, co-led by LaShonda Carter (PhD Candidate, Culture & Theory) and Larisa Castillo (Faculty Director of Pedagogical Humanities), will promote Anti-White Supremacist knowledges and practices that can interrupt the reproduction of White Supremacist educational approaches. AWSP meets quarterly; Feb. 18th will be the first meeting and focus on the work of bell hooks. Sponsored by UCI Humanities Center: "For a More Perfect Union?".
