The story behind the story: I hate nature. I mean, it’s pretty and everything, but I prefer to view it through the window of the car so I don’t say, get stung by a bee or accidentally step in animal feces. I wanted to challenge myself by writing a nature feature story, but finding a subject that I could connect to was extremely difficult. Luckily, the Cactus Wren has little eyebrows. Seriously! A small, endangered bird with cute little eyebrows—who wouldn’t want to write about it? |
I graduated from UC Irvine’s Literary Journalism program in 2010, and am currently working in sales with aspirations to someday move into marketing. I live in Murrieta, a quiet place that nobody has ever heard of and where this is not much to do unless you enjoy hiking (I don’t—too many bugs). Consequently, my hobbies are napping, eating $1.50 Costco hotdogs, and criticizing other people for their grammar errors. Reading is fun, too—particularly my two LJ favorites: Flannery O’Connor’s King of the Birds and anything by David Sedaris. I also enjoy writing, and I plan to continue to write for pure enjoyment—even if I am far too journalistically lazy to ever make a living out of it.
